Arapaima

Arapaima

The Arapaima (Arapaima gigas) is one of the biggest freshwater fish. Usually it grows around 2 meters, but in can go up to 4.5 meters and 200 kg. The arapaima is native to the Amazon river, but it has been introduced in water all across South America. The juveniles of the arapaima feed on insects and larvae, while the adults feed on fish.
