Starry sturgeon

(Acipenser stellatus) These fish form local herds attached to a given river. This species of fish prefer warm shallow waters. The maximum age of the species is around 35 years. It feeds on fish, worms, crustaceans and mollusks. It lies on the bottom during the day and feeds mostly at night. The species is critically endangered due to long exploitation for its caviar which is an expensive delicacy.
